In 2019, KRONEN and Verdeagua continued their success story which began at the KRONEN booth at Fruit Logistica in 2019. Following the fair, the exchange between the KRONEN sales team and Verdeagua, a producer of fresh-cut salads from Uruguay, intensified on the topic of machines for salad processing.

Verdeagua produces ready-to-eat salads and delivers them to supermarkets and gourmet restaurants. The offered products include the particularly delicate Salanova® lettuce, baby leaf salad, spinach, rocket as well as watercress and basil. The delicate products are packed as ready to eat vegetables and are delivered to customers in retail and the food service industry with high quality requirements. The company based in Montevideo now is the leading supplier of ready to eat hydroponic vegetables in Uruguay.

Following the visit at the KRONEN booth, Heiko Schönbroich (Area Sales Manager Germany South at KRONEN) and Juan Lindmayer (Export Area Sales Manager Latin America & Caribbean for KRONEN) organized a visit for the Verdeagua team to the plant of KRONEN customer légumes Rapp in Germany, which gave both producers the opportunity for knowledge and experience exchange. The visit served as inspiration to Verdeagua on how a professional salad processing could be implemented in their plant.

Thereupon Verdeagua decided to install a KRONEN salad processing line at their facility composed of a trim table, an elevator conveyor, a washing machine GEWA3800V Eco with insect removal drum, a basket caroussel and a newly designed KS-100 PLUS spin-dryer.

After the successful installation of the salad processing line, the commissioning was celebrated with a typical Uruguayan “asado“, a barbecue.

“We are pleased to have these machines in use in Uruguay for the first time. This will allow us to open the market and serve more customers in the future.“ said Sebastián Figuerón, technical manager at Verdeagua during the barbecue on occasion of the commissioning of the processing line.
