Baby leaf lettuce is a flavorsome and particularly delicate alternative to conventional salad leaves. It comes in many different varieties and is therefore ideal for freshening up a salad mix with leaves in various shapes and sizes. Unlike heads of lettuce, preparing baby leaf lettuce for processing involves less work because the leaves do not have to be separated first. That said, the sensitive leaves of baby leaf lettuce have a low bulk density and therefore place high demands on the processing procedure.

Celebrating the premiere of the DEW 200 dewatering press:

The IFFA 2022 will mark the premiere of the DEW 200 dewatering press, which is somewhat delayed due to the postponement of the event as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The press was actually developed in cooperation with a sausage manufacturer back in 2020. It facilitates the quick and gentle removal of excess liquid from canned, pickled or defrosted vegetables, thus helping to avoid long draining times.

The international KRONEN team was delighted to welcome a multitude of visitors from around 55 different countries at two recent trade shows.

Potatoes are cultivated in many countries worldwide and are one of the world’s most important foodstuffs. From raw produce to ready-to-eat convenience products, they are processed in a wide variety of ways and come in all shapes and sizes, especially in the areas of restaurants and hotels, fast food, and catering.

Hygienisation of whole fruits and whole vegetables – the DECONWA Prep: a unique washing system developed by KRONEN that improves hygiene and as a result extends the shelf life of end products.

Clean core removal and dividing peppers: 3,360 peppers per hour, with the semi-automated PDS4L.

Due to their sweetness and aroma mangoes are an ideal ingredient in many foods and dishes whether in fruit salad, dried fruit, juice or in smoothies, ice cream, chutneys or as an ingredient in various dishes. This delicate fruit is in high demand and not only in the countries where the mango trees grow. Many mango producing countries export mangoes all over the world either as whole fresh fruit or as a ready produced product such as frozen cubes or dried slices.

Peppers are colourful, healthy and versatile. Their use ranges from fresh ingredients in fresh-cut products to convenience foods or sausage fillings and in a wide variety of frozen products. Many diverse demands are made on processing due to the extensive uses and the varying quality of peppers as raw material depending on the season and cultivation method (greenhouse or outdoors).

Two Food Start-ups use KRONEN machines to process vegetables in the production of Kimchi and other vegetable products:

Time saving and easily prepared products (also vegetarian and vegan) for a healthy diet are currently in huge demand. Kimchi which is fermented seasoned vegetables, thus preserved, contains nutritious ingredients and adds flavour to a variety of dishes. Two German Start-up companies are serving the market with Kimchi and other vegetable products and beverages and since 2021 have increased production capacity due to the installation of KRONEN machines.

For several years now, the popularity of avocados has been growing worldwide - as have demand and production volumes.

In addition to the famous guacamole, the specialty that originated in Mexico, avocados are now often used as a sandwich topping or ingredient in salads. And because you eat with your eyes first, the production of visually appealing product pieces is required for everything that is not processed as a dip.
