KRONEN Processing Line used for Research Purposes

The completely networked processing line consists of machines which are all fully equipped with SMART enabling state-of-the-art automation in fruit, vegetable and salad processing. Thanks to machine to machine communication, the entire line can be controlled centrally meaning "predictive maintenance" as well as maintenance via remote access through KRONEN is possible.

The modular line consists of a GS 10-2 belt cutting machine with discharge belt, a GEWA 3800V PLUS washing machine, a KS-100 PLUS salad and vegetable spin-dryer, a conveyor belt connected GKS weighing and packaging system with a 14-head weighing machine and a UP 350 packaging machine. It can be used by researchers and interested companies from the food industry to carry out extensive tests. Using findings from various research areas, interested companies can explore, test and be schooled on new processing technology production possibilities. As well as new technologies, the VEG-i-TEC laboratory also focuses on water and disinfection, energy management and aspects of food safety, by-products, quality, "hygienic design" and the economic, ecological and social impact of the industry.

For several years KRONEN has been collaborating with various research institutions including research projects. The installation of the SMART processing line at the technical centre in Belgium further contributes to research and development in the industry, as does the application of innovative processing technologies.
